Hustle Amsterdam (HA): Where are you from? And what brings you to Amsterdam?

Juliet Lippman (JL): I’m a born and raised New Yorker. I met a Dutchie almost five years ago in Madrid during my MBA, and I fell in love. Not only with him but also with the Dutch way of being. Two things really stood out for me about the Dutch: 1) They are extremely open-minded and 2) They work to live, instead of live to work. After a few visits, I was sold and made future plans to one day move there. I’ve been living in de Pijp in Amsterdam for over a year and a half now, and I just can’t get enough!

HA: Tell me about your business? What is your mission?

JL: I’m a High Performance Women’s Leadership Coach. My mission is to support women in their careers, sexuality and spirituality to shift past limiting beliefs and step into a life full of personal power, choice, and abundance.

HA: How are you handling our new “normal” due to the coronavirus outbreak? What impact has it had on your business? How has the transition to working remotely been for you? Are you being strict with a routine or taking it day-by-day?

JL: For me, it’s been a very nourishing time. I’ve been using this time to turn inwards by addressing my own desires, learn what it means to simply “be” without having somewhere to go, and I’ve also had the opportunity to check in with friends and women on social media from across the world.

I’ve noticed that many women are struggling to get out of their heads and give themselves a sense of safety, comfort, and belonging they so crave, especially during a pandemic.

I saw that while my day job of branding and sales consulting for “for women, by women” startups and sme’s was also important and needed during this time, why not merge my business experience with pleasure and spirituality I’ve been learning in my sex, love, and relationship coaching certification with Layla Martin to allow the women in my life to feel powerful, experience epic amounts of pleasure, and enjoy lasting success.

As a result, I’ve now hosted over twelve workshops on integrating career, sexuality, and spirituality for the woman who wants it all. It’s been one hell of a ride and has launched me into my new role from digital consultant to full on High Performing Female Leadership Coach. These days, I coach women in 1:1 coaching containers up-level in all aspects of their lives (from online fempreneurship to sex coaching to overall life-coaching). I feel so grateful to be in this line of work. It is so rewarding watching women align with their inner worlds and feel worthy of everything life wants to offer them.

HA: Why Juliet Lippman Coaching? What brought you to the self-development industry?

JL: My fascination with self-development began when I was gifted my first vibrator at 19 years old.

At that time, I remember wanting so many things. I hated my body, and I truly wished to be more confident and free. When I gave myself my first pleasurable experience, I saw that reclaiming my own pleasure meant I brought a new sense of power and authenticity into the bedroom with my partner. And it also meant I could bring this rich sense of aliveness outside the bedroom -- to companies and individuals I worked with, to non-romantic relationships, and to everyday interactions. I could flirt, dress and celebrate life in a way that felt real to me. I felt energized, awake, and more myself than ever before.

With my newfound sense of embodied and holistic freedom, I wanted to learn how to share this with others at scale. I began studying feminism and researching female pleasure at Yale University while earning my Masters in Advanced Business Administration.

After earning my Masters, I began working as a digital branding, marketing, and sales consultant for female entrepreneurs and SMEs to grow their businesses. It was in this supporting role that I realized many women, and myself included, have limiting beliefs around their professional and personal lives. As innate nurturers, there is a tendency for women to feel overwhelmed, guilty, and ashamed to take care of themselves. And, of course, this naturally would lead to burnout.

Curious about engineering a solution, I remembered how much sexuality helped me step into my own power. I needed to find a way to bridge career satisfaction with sensual satisfaction — in a way that would stick — but something was missing.

A few years ago, I embarked on an intense spiritual journey using energy work and ancient shamanistic rituals to heal self-defeating beliefs that always convinced me to play small. I realized I found a powerful trifecta by integrating Career, Sexuality, and Spirituality together,  which are now the  three cornerstones of my coaching philosophy. Excited to share this learning with thousands of women, I joined Layla Martin’s Sex, Love and Relationship Coaching Program to give me the foundation to coach professionally in an embodied, spiritual way.

HA: What is the current state of Juliet Lippman Coaching? Do you have six and 12-month goals for your business?

JL: Current state: having completed twelve different workshops over the last four months, I’ve started coaching clients in 1:1 sessions which have been such an honor.

Six month goals: continue attracting, honoring and supporting women through 1:1 coaching containers, launch a mastermind for fempreneurs, and launch a workshop with my co-facilitator called, “Now What?” A dialogue series for inner freedom. Stay tuned

One year: continue holding space for ladies in realizing their own personal freedom.

HA: What kind of obstacles do you face in your company? How do you handle them?

JL: Obstacles: Unworthiness.

Handle them: Breathwork. Visualizations. Inner kindness. And, the profound realization that, since nothing really matters in the grand scheme of things and that everyone is living in stories, that I have the mind-space and personal freedom to choose what to care about and drop the expectations. To me, that realization and practice continues to get me the closest to personal freedom.

HA: What has been your most successful moment so far? And how do you celebrate your wins?

JL: My most successful moment so far has been feedback moments from clients. When I hear how a client has beautifully integrated the work by helping her overcome any doubts, fears, shame, etc she might have had, and how she is that much closer to what gives her true and pure energy and joy, I usually celebrate by doing a dance, closing my eyes, and holding my heart. Because I’ve been there. And, I know that investing in yourself and seeing the results is the most beautiful gift you can ever give to yourself. Because it not only benefits you, but those around you who you hold so dear. Life starts happening for you instead of against you. And, that’s where the magic lies.

HA: How have you accomplished what you have? Did you go to business school? Did you wing it? Fake it till you make it? Get really lucky?

JL: I could say going to Yale School of Management is what got me here. But in all honesty, trial and error in jobs that were not aligned with my truth taught me what I actually want.

The journey back to myself allowed me to start attracting the life I want. And, it’s working.

HA: How big is your team? And where are your team members located?

JL: Just myself! All my friends and family have been very supportive, which gives me the courage and strength I’ve needed in the hard, early days. These days, I’ve learned how to self-resource and self-soothe in moments of doubt. This is how you keep getting up as an entrepreneur.

HA: Do you have a favorite motivational quote?

JL: If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right. - Henry Ford

Also, life happens for you, not against you.

HA: What 3 tips would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs? What do you wish you had known before you started?

JL:

  1. Find pleasure in everything you do.

  2. Decide right now that you will have it. If you truly believe it and your deepest desires are aligned with this belief, you will be unstoppable.

  3. Hold a seat at the table for all your emotions — trying to push emotions or your shadows away only make them bigger. The only thing I’ve found that works is first: love and compassion, then the realization that if nothing truly matters, then: how do you start living your life? Hopefully from a place whereby you drop the stories and dare to make decisions that feel the most alive within you.

HA: How would you describe your working style?

JL: Since I don’t find much freedom in strict morning rituals and schedules that make me work for it versus it working for me, I usually give myself 20-30 minutes each morning to play with what will give me the most energy for that given day. I keep it open, and that always feels good.

Usually, I wake up and drink one liter of water then check-in with my intuition. What is she telling me she needs today? What needs more attention? I trust my gut to tell me what I need to get done.

Some mornings I do affirmations. Other mornings I dance out any blocked energy or stagnant emotions from my body. Other mornings I do visualizations.

HA: When you’re not working on High Impact Female Leadership Coaching — where can we find you?

JL: In-line skating in Vondelpark, chatting about life with girlfriends, or walking with my little doggie Pepe in Sarphatipark!

HA: How do you find work-life balance while being an entrepreneur?

JL: When I worked at office jobs, I used to wait impatiently for the clock to strike 5pm, because then I could finally start living again.

Now that I’m doing what I love, I no longer have to find work-life balance. My work is my life and my life is my work.

When you find the work that is aligned with your highest calling, you no longer need to stop living during the work week. I’ve found that life has become a lot more colorful and actually easy.

HA: What is your passion?

JL: Breaking the chains of consistency. Daring to question. Seeing people thrive.

HA: What inspires you most about Amsterdam? Do you have any favorite spots to work or hangout?

JL: I love the history of Amsterdam. I often bike around the canals of Amsterdam amazed at how each canal house has its own unique character with one-of-a-kind details. And yet, as a collective, the houses fit perfectly together. Whenever I see a house that dates from the 1500s or 1600s, I just imagine what happened on the same streets and houses that I’m staring at now? Were there chickens running loose, were men walking around discussing politics in topcoats and women cooking inside? Was there a lovers quarrel on the corner? So curious! If only I could be a fly on the wall...

HA: Anything else you’d like to add?

JL: I’m welcoming in two ladies for 1:1 coaching containers starting in August. Message me if this interests you

Stay tuned for my new program launching in the fall called, “What Now? Welcoming you to your next step.”

Alexis Damen

I was born and raised in the U.S. but grew up eating hagelslag and poffertjes, thanks to my Dutch dad. After moving to Amsterdam on a whim in 2019, I started Hustle Amsterdam to meet fellow entrepreneurs, introduce myself, and offer value to people instead of just asking for things. My mission with Hustle Amsterdam is to empower entrepreneurs and leaders worldwide. I’d like you to feel like we’re a partner in your business journey. We’re here to help you connect, build community, and collaborate with people who are hustling like you (and me) to make dreams happen. I also have a freelance content marketing business. When I’m not working, you can find me on the padel court, watching way too much Netflix, traveling, and hanging out with friends & family.
